The Swiss Medical Students’ Convention brings together future healthcare professionals to learn from different perspectives, share ideas and connect with one another. This edition invites us to look beyond the emergency response and ask what it takes to support patients, healthcare workers and health systems in the years that follow.

Why “The Day After”?

When the dust settles and the cameras leave, care does not end. People continue to live with injuries, psychological trauma and disrupted access to healthcare. Local healthcare professionals and communities carry on, often while the services and infrastructure they rely on need to be restored.Our medical studies, together with the crises we see unfolding around the world, have made these questions impossible to ignore.

In Geneva, we want to explore what recovery looks like in practice: sustaining essential care, rebuilding health services and responding to long-term needs. The aim is not to suggest that future doctors can solve these challenges alone, but to prepare us to listen, collaborate and contribute responsibly
